| Christian FactS #1: Only one-third of the adult public identify themselves as born-again Christian, and two-thirds of all Americans have no idea what the term evangelical means.
Eighty percent of Americans believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, but 59 percent said they don't have the time to read it. Eighty-two percent of Americans believe in the power of prayer, but 53 percent agree that all people pray to the same God or Spirit no matter what name they use for that spiritual being. Regarding the Great Commission, 84 percent could not even hazard a guess as to what that term means, and regarding John 3:16, 63 percent had no clue what it refers to.
Christian fact #2: Do you know that Stephen Baldwin is a born-again Christian,co-creating "Living It", a faith-based DVD featuring skaters and BMXers. He was Barney Rubble in the Flintstones' Viva Rock Vegas.
Christian Joke #1: Complaints from Biblical Wives or mothers:
Manoah's wife to her son Samson: "Can't you clean the sink after you shampoo? I'm sick of all these long hairs!"
Mary to Joseph: "I TOLD you to make reservations!"
Pilate's wife to Pilate after the resurrection: "You never listen to me, do you?" How do you feel now "Mr. Wash-Your-Hands-In-Public"?! (Mat 27:19)
Christian Joke #2: Church bulletin bloopers:
Announcement in a church bulletin for a national PRAYER & FASTING Conference: "The cost for attending the Fasting & Prayer Conference includes meals."
Don't let worry kill you off - let the Church help.
Bertha Belch, a missionary from Africa, will be speaking tonight at Calvary Methodist. Come hear Bertha Belch all the way from Africa.

Reading from Alex's blog, thought I'd give a recap on Soon Meng and Michelle's wedding, for the benefit of all the JYG gang, since i'm so nice and wonderful.
Wedding was at Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Doncaster. Like Alex said, groom was handsome, bride very beautiful. Everything went perfectly, until the recessional when the CD player broke down. Of course, "my" TK managed to hop onto the keyboard and saved the day! Hehehehh... Grace and Johanna sang when Soonie and Michy signed the marriage certificates. It's amazing how Grace can sing so well but we hardly ever get to hear her sing. Of course, Johanna and Cheryl were awesome too, but we do hear them sing often on Sundays anyways =P Basically, EVERYONE was awesome. Like the ushers- among them yours truly
Dinner at the Atlantic South Wharf was great! I missed the cocktail party before that 'cos the designated driver was late. The steak was a real good jaw exercise, but the appetizers and dessert was FANTASTIC! Considering I am a anti-fusion gal, I managed to enjoy my Spirulli pasta with Thai curry sauce topped with shaved parmesan. The sticky date pudding was yum-yum-yummy!
Okay, 'nuff about the food. I could not contain my laughter when someone said grace before dinner..... with TECHNO music in the background. Think "Lord we give you thanks... *DOOP DOOP DOOP!!!* for the food we are about to eat *DOOP DOOP DOOP!*". Luckily Keryn saved the day by changing CDs to something more appropriate. Michelle's dad is just SO funny. An excerpt (of course, paraphrased): "My wife and I will rely on Soon Meng for dental care to prevent tooth decay so we would be able to enjoy all the food they(soonie and Michy) will be spending us". *lol*
It was amazing to see what a close-knitted family they have. Relatives flying all the way from.. wherever, to attend the wedding. Michelle's siblings and cousins put on a performance, singing "Love is all around", and would you believe, her mom and her 6 sisters performing "somewhere over the rainbow". It just made me long for that family closeness. It's really often we hear of siblings being almost estranged from each other after having their own families. Of course, it's harder to stay close when you've a big family like me, with siblings' ages spanning 12 years and living all over the world. However, I hold hope that one day Mitchell, Ethan, Benjamin and all their cousins will be able to share that closeness; and that my sisters and I could perhaps sing "Somewhere over the rainbow" together at my daughter's wedding.
Or any song for that matter. Hmm... we may actually sound better 'cos we have had MANY years of home karaoke training, to the dismay of neighbours . Remeniscient of my family screeching together the Carpenters' "Top of the world", "Yesterday Once More" and many golden oldies, I'd dare to believe that it is a possibility. | | |
| The reason why i have the seemingly pretentious, show-offy title of "Ma 2 valeur australienne des cents! "(For the dimly lit, it means the same thing as my sub-heading- My two Australian cents worth), is because I discovered a really cool site that day, http://www.freetranslation.com .
I'm actually at work now, but.... the clinic manager JUST stepped out! Woohoo!! Hahaha... So anyway, here are a few useful phrases for you to practise and enjoy!
"You are a really big cow"- Spanish: "Usted es una vaca muy grande"
"Please refrain from worshipping me"- Italian: "Per favore il ritornello da adorare me"
"Please give me all your money because I am so beautiful"-Portuguese: "Por favor dê-me todo seu dinheiro porque sou tão lindo"
"I love to eat dog biscuits. Do you?" -Norwegian:"Jeg elsker ete hundkjekser. Gjør De? "
